Edison orchestra offers violin, viola, cello, and bass.
It is always helpful if the student has their own instrument, but the school has instruments available to students who need them, free of charge. A form has to be filled out for each instrument being borrowed, and the student is responsible for taking good care of the instrument and transporting it to and from school.

The syllabus outlines the procedures and expectations of the students in detail. Generally speaking, weekly practice and professional behavior are expected. Attendance at rehearsals and performances is mandatory as this is a performance based class.
Edison orchestras have 6th - 12th grade combined performances at the end of each semester that serve as the Final Exam. Additionally, Edison Orchestras compete at OSSAA large group and solo & ensemble contests (only the intermediate and advanced groups.) Orchestra students have performed the Star Spangled Banner at Tulsa Drillers games and for BMX races. On December 2, 2024, Edison Orchestra students performed for the City of Tulsa Mayoral Inauguration.
YES! The Advanced Middle School Orchestra attends the Heartland Music Festival/Frontier City contest every Spring, and the High School Orchestras travel out of state almost every year. Since Mrs. V has taught at Edison, her students have traveled to Chicago, IL (2018), Nashville, TN (2019), and St. Louis, MO (2023). In April of 2022, the Orchestra combined with the Band and Choir programs to go to Disneyworld in Orlando, FL. In March of 2024, Edison Fine Arts traveled to NYC, and in 2026, they will head back to Chicago.
